Ideas from our 6D Community Chat in March

We will gather as a community once every quarter to discuss various topics including current affairs, what we would like our world to look like and how we can impact change to make it so. Together we will continue to find our way forward through diversity and open and respectful discussions. And we are grateful to our 6D Team Member, Affan Kermani, for this wonderful idea for us to regularly connect as a community.

Open Community Discussions – A time to connect and hear one another

Our quarterly Community Chats will help your 6D Team know where to focus our energies in order that this community continues to thrive, learn and grow together. They will also serve to keep us all connected and engaged with one another through discussions about various topics.

Topic Focus for our March discussion - WHAT IS 6D AND WHAT COULD IT BE?

Thanks to Liz Lena, one of our 6D Team Members for taking notes during our discussion.

On March 28th we met as a community for the first time to simply spend some time together sharing ideas, stories and some good laughs. We are all immensely grateful to our 6D Team Member Affan Kermani for suggesting this event. And as promised, we are going to make this a quarterly event.

Our discussion together on the 28th began with various 6D Team Members sharing their thoughts about why they felt drawn to be of service to our community and what they have experienced.

Sia recounted how and when she started 6D Living and how it had evolved over the years organically driven by the community’s ideas and interests. What began as a way to stay connected with people she had met at True North by reading books collecting dust on her shelves into an international community focused on all aspects of how we can all live lives of wellness through balance. What most inspires her about our community is the connection we have nurtured, connecting people around the world in wellness and with support.

Kathy shared about when she met Sia at True North, a place which helped her to heal and to realize that there are indeed others out there in the world who eat the way she was eating! She feels that 6D is not just about nutrition but it is also about achieving balance in our lives. She is inspired to be connected with people around the world, learning together as well as supporting one another on our journeys.

Affan said that he offered to join the 6D Team because he was impressed with the openness of dialog he had found in our book club community. Sharing with one another is something he enjoys moderating book clubs and learning from others. He emphasized how he enjoys Intersentient aspect of 6D – connecting and learning together.

Liz was on a personal wellness journey when she came across a video with 6D Living about its purpose and how it is all connected. She ‘clicked immediately’ and once she met the community, she knew that she had found a supportive community focused on wellness.

Jennifer said that she is quite lucky in that she does know some people who eat the way that she eats and that there is a supportive community where she lives. She agreed to join the 6D Team because she likes that living well depends on optimal nutrition is the focus, not an afterthought. She also enjoys the community connections and the openness in sharing ideas.

Melissa was unable to join our chat. She enjoys writing her blog series Harvesting Simplicity and enjoyed moderating a book club last summer so much that she may offer another this summer. We are all keeping our fingers crossed that she will - she was a wonderful moderator.

When we began to open up the discussion with everyone, we were thrilled to see some new faces – fearless wellness seekers who have heretofore never participated in any 6D event. We welcomed them with open arms (as we do!) and learned about their own personal journeys. We came to realize throughout our meeting that is our diversity which unites us at 6D. We have a common ground which allows us to come together with respect and kindness in search of wellness and balance.

For privacy reasons, we would like to share what was discussed without naming names, so to speak. We began the group part of the discussion listening to our members share what it is about 6D that keeps them connected to community and what aspects of 6D they enjoy the most.

·       The diversity of the book club options

·       Focusing on health-related books has helped some in the community improve their own health

·       That we respect one another’s perspectives and beliefs

·       That we have common ground on which to stand – Wellness/Health

·       Meeting new people and the diversity of people with whom we connect

·       Some joined out of curiosity and learned from the book clubs a lot about food

·       Real friendships have come from connections with the community and some members have even met ‘in real life’!

·       Some of our members are health professionals and have offered amazing insights and facts to our discussions

·       Members have shared their own personal journeys in our groups and the community has always been supportive – even making connections outside the group with doctors to help one another

·       6D offers a variety of resources, the most important of which is the sharing of ideas, where to source certain things as well as recipes

·       Our focus on staying positive and helpful in our world

We then asked the group what we could do better or differently at 6D and we listened to some wonderful new ideas, some of which are already in the works and some of which are now a reality on our website. Those programs which are ready now are in Bold Green and Underlined and are live links to those events.

A focus on books which explore mental health

o   We have a book club currently available which explores this topic

o   We will endeavor to bring more options for mental health to our book clubs and seminars

Adding more live demonstration events focusing on cooking and prepping in the kitchen

o   We have a seminar series currently available which explores how to create fermented foods – which are crucial for our microbiome!

o   We will endeavor to add more live demo-style events in the Autumn

Bringing back the Modified Fasting Program a few times a year to help people who could use a ‘tune-up’ quarterly

o   We will consider this idea, but it will depend heavily on time and resources after the summer; we encourage you to form your own groups and share the materials - you can do this together!!

Explore the idea of using creativity and the arts to help share the ideas we all explore here at 6D

o   We have a seminar series currently available which explores creative writing techniques through the topic of nutrition

o   Very interesting idea and perhaps our upcoming quarterly magazine may help to achieve this in some way

o   Please reach out if you have further ideas about what you would like to see created at 6D Living in the coming year and your 6D Team will do its best to make it happen!

We chatted a bit more and had some laughs as one member shared that plant-based eating is not optimal when one has braces on their teeth! We would like to thank everyone who attended our first 6D Community Chat and we look forward to next time! Until then, please never hesitate to reach out via email (balance@6dliving.com) to share your ideas, questions or just to chat!

Also – please be sure that you are SUBSCRIBED to our mailing list if you wish to continue receiving newsletters and other community communications from 6D.

Our policy change goes into effect on May 1st.

When it came time to decide on a topic for our next 6D Community Chat, well … crickets! No worries, your 6D Team has it covered.

We will meet again on Saturday, June 27th at 9:00am PST.

Registrations will open on May 1st

We will be discussing the chaos of grief and the importance of grieving together so that we can move forward with love and compassion, knowing our community is there to support us. We can grieve from the loss of many things – loved ones, freedoms, health, friends … let’s talk about it together in June.

Be well
