Calling all Plant Warriors! It is time to let us know your PLANT POINT COUNT for our 365 in 365 game!

Every two weeks we will ask you to let us know either in the comments below or on our Facebook group page what your PLANT POINT COUNT is for our game thus far. Please tell us your TOTAL PLANTS and let us know how many NEW PLANTS you have added to your list.

Your first plant point count will have the *MOST NEW PLANTS EVER* - by virtue of it being the first count after which you are likely to eat some of the same plants again. Remember, we only count a plant once as 'being eaten' - we do not count it each time we eat it!! We are going for DIVERSITY!!!

HOW MANY PLANTS HAVE YOU EATEN THUS FAR IN THE GAME? HOW MANY OF THEM WERE *NEW* SINCE WE BEGAN THE GAME?

PLEASE SHARE YOUR PHOTOS, RECIPES AND ANY SOURCING RESOURCES IN THE COMMENTS BELOW, THANK YOU.

6D Living is hosting an International Plant Movement event on Facebook called 365 in 365. Whilst the official group is exclusively on Facebook, you can still play this plant game with us by following our blog and using the comments section to share your progress throughout the year!

We will follow your progress, share ideas about ways to 'count' your plants, how to diversify your nutritional routine and build up those amazing CRITTERS!! And we will let you know if you are the Plant Warrior Award winner! Everyone can play with us!

Here's how you can take part in 365 in 365 if you do not have a Facebook account

  1. Follow our new blog series by Jennifer Armstrong which is published bi-monthly, entitled 365 in 365. These posts will help guide us all as we accept the 6D opportunity to diversify our plants in order to nurture and nourish our microbiome and thus improve our health and wellness.

  2. Share your photos, recipes and thoughts about newly discovered or re-discovered plants in the comments section below

  3. Share your total plant points for the journey thus far so we can add them to the Plant Warrior count for the week in the comments section below

  4. Share resources - we are an international community, so some things may need online sourcing or store recommendations for some plants - help us all find amazing plants to feed our CRITTERS!

About Jennifer Armstrong and her original idea for 365 in 365

The idea for 365 in 365 arose at the intersection of eating for diversity and my competitive nature. Almost as soon as I encountered Dr. B’s advice to strive for 30 plants in a week, I rose to the challenge. “30 in a week? I eat at least 30 a day!”

So, I naturally jumped into the task of recording my plants for the week, chuckling smugly as my list blasted past 30. But I soon discovered that despite that variety, there was also quite a lot of repetition in the course of a week.

And so I began seeking out the plant foods I hadn’t eaten in a long time, (hello, horseradish, we meet again!) or that I’d never tried before, and before I knew it, I’d set myself a stretch goal of ticking off a different plant food for every day of the year. Every time I went to the produce aisle and the farmer’s market, I looked for plants that were not in my usual repertoire. I made trips to the Asian grocery store, puzzling over ingredients that were entirely unfamiliar, not to mention labeled in unfamiliar languages. I combed the Internet for online herb and spice and tea purveyors, tried rare varieties of heirloom beans, stocked up on grains of every description, sought out local foragers.

I had to make the rules up as I went, deciding that “Apple” was surely not a single thing, because every variety of apple had its own unique blend of phytonutrients and polyphenols, a particular suite of chemicals that only that plant possessed. I decided that a pumpkin seed was a different food than the flesh of the pumpkin itself. For my purposes I counted mushrooms as plant foods and eagerly ticked off multiple species as I tried each one. (An Asian market is particularly handy for finding a wide variety of mushrooms!) How many seaweeds could I find? How many nuts, how many seeds? What about all the spices I’d heard of but never tried? What about all the spices I’d never heard of at all?

I didn’t feel compelled to make each of these things a regular staple in my kitchen. After all, I didn’t necessarily like all the things I tried. But I had to give each food a fair try. So, we invite you to take the challenge as well. Join the 365 in 365 challenge. Who knows what you might eat?

How Sia got involved with this idea and thought about how it could benefit us all

I love my microbiome and my microbiome loves me. Well, it does when I take care of it properly anyway! Dr Bulsiewicz shared The Golden Rule with us in his amazing book Fiber Fueleddiversity of plants equals a healthy microbiome! And what the microbiome does with that diversity is absolutely mind boggling!

When Jennifer explained the premise of her idea and the goal of diversifying our plant intake – well, I was over the moon excited to share this with others; as well as to practice this for my own microbiome.

Imagine it – 365 different plants in 365 days to nourish and empower our CRITTERS!! Suddenly the thought of becoming a planet filled with plant-warriors is possible. I am very excited to learn about new plants, find where to source them as well as learn about their benefits to our health – together, with all of you. This is going to a fun year indeed! GO CRITTERS!!

This is a 365 day challenge to try 365 different plants in your nutritional routine over the next 365 days. We will explore new and known plants, share their nutritional benefits as well as recipes so we can all enjoy the splendor of the plant world and improve our health - as a united community.

We know that the diversity of plants we eat determines our microbiome health, which in turn determines our overall health and wellness. Our goal at 365 in 365 is to try to get as many different plants as possible into our bodies over the year - steadily becoming healthier together.

We invite all our members to share recipes, new plants they have 'discovered' for themselves as well as resources where we can all find these wonderful gifts from nature no matter where we live in the world.

This is an international plant-based community for curious minds which want to learn how to be healthier, happier and more balanced in their lives. This is a group of hope and encouragement for all sentient beings on the planet we call home.

Join us here in the comments section or in our Facebook group - time for some creative playtime with plants - we look forward to this creative and fun journey with you!

Be well
