Do you read for pleasure anymore? - 'Post-literate age': Why fewer Americans are reading for pleasure

In recent years, there has been attention and worries about how reading has changed among kids. Those concerns include the nature of what kids are reading and how many fewer books are part of their education diet. A new cover story in The Atlantic is casting a broader spotlight, raising similar questions for the overall population.

This short piece from PBS Newshour (scroll down to watch the video) highlights how not only children, but also adults, are spending less time reading for pleasure. At 6D Living we value the benefits of reading and regularly offer book clubs via zoom so people around the world can join us as we explore new ideas together.

"Reading books has several health benefits. These include strengthening your brain, increasing your ability to empathize, reducing stress, and building your vocabulary.

Learning together as a community is a powerful experience which allows for the free and respectful exchange of ideas.

Reading books benefits both your physical and mental health, and those benefits can last a lifetime. Even if you didn’t fall in love with reading as a kid, it’s never too late to start. Reading can even be a form of therapy for improving well-being. Bibliotherapy is a complementary therapeutic tool for emotional release and reduced stress and anxiety." Healthline
