Ginger’s pungent and spicy aroma comes from essential oils and phenolic compounds such as gingerols in the root. Gingerols help improve intestinal motility – the rate at which food exits the stomach and continues along the digestive process and have anti-inflammatory, painkiller (analgesic), nerve soothing, antipyretic as well as anti-bacterial properties.
