Why Your Blood Vessels Could Be Behind Memory Loss

Josh Helman MD wants to ask you something most people never think about: how healthy are your blood vessels? It sounds like an odd question when we're talking about brain health. Scroll down to watcha wonderful interview addressing this issue, thank you.

Dr Josh recently sat down with Dr. Daniel LaPerriere, MD — an integrative physician in Colorado who has spent over a decade helping patients prevent and reverse cognitive decline — and he made a case that changed the way we think about Alzheimer's risk.

Here's the short version: your brain runs on oxygen and nutrients, and the only way they get there is through your blood vessels. When the health of those vessels breaks down — often silently, years before any symptoms show up — your brain can be starved of what it needs to function and repair itself.

Dr Josh Helman and Dr Daniel LaPerriere talk about:

  • The protective inner lining of your blood vessels, and what happens when it breaks down

  • What lab work and imaging can reveal about your vascular and cognitive risk — often before you'd ever notice a symptom

  • The lifestyle strategies that actually move the needle for blood flow and brain health

  • Real stories from his practice, including patients who were on the edge of needing full-time care and are still home, still functioning, years later

If you've ever wondered whether it's "too late" to do something about your brain health, this is the episode for you. The honest answer, more often than not, is no.
