Please scroll down to watch the video from Crash Course entitled What is Philosophy?

In this new blog series, published every two weeks, we will share with you some extraordinary videos from Crash Course covering the complex world of philosophy. Our philosophical beliefs play an integral role in our lives and how we relate to the world. This series of posts will explore a plethora of philosophical ideas, allowing us to better understand our own minds, lives and how we choose to live them.
In 46 episodes, Hank Green will teach you philosophy! These videos are short, quick and entertaining. Some posts will contain more than one video, depending on the thematic content. This course is based on an introductory Western philosophy college level curriculum. By the end of the course, you will be able to:
* Examine topics like the self, ethics, religion, language, art, death, politics, and knowledge through a philosophical perspective
* Craft arguments, apply deductive and inductive reasoning, and identify fallacies
* Understand the perspectives and major theories proposed by various philosophers throughout history
* Apply philosophical ideas to ethical questions in modern society
* Consider your personal values and approach to life
Our Intellectual Dimension is where our cerebral matter really matters! Explore ideas that can help you to stimulate, nurture and nourish your brain - the birthplace of all our ideas. Balance this dimension by focusing on both your professional and personal intellectual development, exercise your brain like you exercise your body. Staying mentally sharp helps to keep your ideas (and your life) fresh and exciting.

In this video, Hank begins to teach you about Philosophy by discussing the historical origins of philosophy in ancient Greece, and its three main divisions: metaphysics, epistemology, and value theory. He will also introduce logic, and how you’re going to use it to understand and critically evaluate a whole host of different worldviews throughout this course. And also, hopefully, the rest of your life.
