From Robin about our new book ...Â
I chose this book to discuss in three short sessions using a discussion guide that helps us focus on appreciating what we have in our lives without regrets. The book explores the meaning of life and the impact of struggling with mental health. It leads readers to reflect on their own life and the possibilities of their future. It is an easy read and evoked feelings of gratitude for me.
We FULLY read the entire book and then meet on zoom weekly for discussions.
If you could live your life over again, would you make the same choices? Nora Seed is depressed: Her best friend has ghosted her from the other side of the world; she is estranged from her brother; she just got fired; and her cat died. Nora attempts suicide but instead finds herself in a library where she gets to choose other life paths. Matt Haig takes readers on a journey of quantum physics that will have them feeling that they actually understand the theory. He treats the subject of suicide with a light touch, and the book’s playful tone will be welcome to readers who like their fantasies sweet if a little too forgettable. This book begs the reader to ask real life questions about their own happiness and encourages the fantasy of considering the paths not taken.
